Abstract
An overview of the development of Kaupapa Mäori
Theory as a Mäori theoretical framework that is grounded
within te reo and tikanga Mäori is presented. It is argued
that Kaupapa Mäori theory is informed by its indigenous
underpinnings and is defined and controlled by Mäori.
As such, Kaupapa Mäori theory has transformed theory
in Aotearoa.
